Welcome, Tena Koe, Talofa, Bula, Kia Orana, Kia Ora
Raureka School is a contributing primary school meeting the needs of about 300 children from new entrant to year 6.
Situated in the western side of Hastings, Raureka is a decile 2 school.
It is a proud school, which combines the traditions of its 100+ years with the confidence to face future challenges.
We value the richness and diverse nature of our multi cultural community, as well as integrity, teamwork, respect, initiative, honesty and excellence.
Raureka is committed to equipping students with the key competencies to achieve high personal standards and learners for life who contribute positively to society.
"The children at Raureka School will be expected to STRIVE to uphold the core values of RESPECT (believing in their own self worth and showing regard for the feelings, wishes and rights of others and the environment) RESPONSIBILITY (through positive actions to look after yourself, your family and be a committed, contributing member of the local, national and global community ), RESILIENCE (having the strength, courage and resourcefulness to persevere when facing challenges) and RELATIONSHIPS (behaving in a caring, respectful way towards others to develop a positive bond with them)"
Our staff are enthusiastic forward thinkers who strive to meet the individual needs of their students. They motivate students to achieve their best and fulfill their potential. Raureka teachers use Best Practice theory to actively engage children in their learning.
Students take responsibility for their learning and become secure in who they are. They have fun at school with regular good behaviour rewards, crazy costume days, lots of sporting opportunities, optimist yachting, carnival, camp, kapahaka, te reo and the use of our fantastic swimming pools. Raureka Children benefit from low class numbers, excellent support staff, extension classes and ESOL programmes, along with dedicated highly skilled teachers.
We endeavour to work closely with parents. A strong home-school partnership with two way communication supports your child's development and progress. Parents' presence in the school and their contribution to school life and their child's education is a fundamental aspect of school life.
Our aim is to build student achievement and to make school a happy place where everyone is learning. We aim for Excellence (Academic, Sporting, Cultural and Leadership). We want our children to have excellent work habits, contribute positively at school, take part in sports, be an example to others and consistently approach learning with a positive attitude. We want our children to be self motivated, to ask questions, to lead and mange their own learning and to be interested in the world around them. We want our children to care for others, follow rules, take care of their own and others property, treat adults with courtesy and respect, be strong in their identity and uphold Tohea- To Strive in all that they do.
Our Board have been proactive and have made a conscious decision to supply an ipad for each child in the senior team to use while at school. The board have also provided a number of ipads for each other classroom to use. The ipads are a tool to help learning and help the children engage in learning.
